Acer mono has very nice wide leaves that are shiny green in the summer and turn yellow orange to scarlet red in the fall. The fall colors can be so unique that the tree is also known as the Painted maple. There are a few very cool cultivars of Acer mono including A. mono Hoshiyadori and A. mono Usugumo.
